This book is the best practice book for electronics. It explains in depth all electronics components which is practically one to be needed to understand how exactly it is working.

I saw “Practical Electronics for Inventors” in university library when I was an engineering student. When I read this first time, I found that this book isn't composed like a conventional reading material with loads of theories and equations. It presents what you have to work with electronic parts. It provides and clears the basics so that you can easily use this information when required. Immediately I planned to purchase my own personal copy. At that time, 2nd edition was available. Till now this book is available in my book shelf and often I refer it (4th edition also made a place in my book shelf).

With the time “Practical Electronics for Inventors” flourished and now available in 4th edition, updated and revised by authors Paul Scherz and Simon Monk. Paul Scherz has written 1st and 2nd edition. Simon Monk joins with Paul Scherz for the 3rd and 4th Editions.

A new chapter on programmable logic has been included in 4th edition, which focuses on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and teaches about programming FPGA evaluation board by using schematic editor and the Verilog hardware definition language.

“Practical Electronics for Inventors” provides circuit diagram, step-by-step teachings and reference pictures. This book guides you; how to select the right components for your design, how to design and assemble circuits, how to perform testing, how to use analog and digital IC’s, how to use software and simulation tools.

About the authors


Paul Scherz  Paul is an inventor/hobbyist in electronics. Most of his electronics experience he got at the University’s Department of Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics and the Department of Plasma Physics.
He is a physicist/mechanical engineer who received his B.S. in physics from the University of Wisconsin.
His area of interest is physics, in which currently he’s focusing on elementary particle interactions, or high energy physics, and he is working on a new theory on the photon problems with Nikolus Kauer (Ph.D. in high energy physics, Munich, Germany).

Dr. Simon Monk – Simon has a degree in Cybernetics and Computer Science and a PhD in Software Engineering. He’s the co-founder of mobile software company Momote Ltd. He’s full time writer on hobby electronics and open source hardware. He’s the author of books like; “30 Arduino Projects for the Evil Genius”, “Arduino + Android Projects for the Evil Genius”, “Programming Arduino Getting Started with Sketches”, “Hacking Electronics” and “Programming the Raspberry Pi : Getting Started with Python”.
